The lights come on at 6:00pm Opening Night and from 5:30pm to 10:30pm every evening through the month of December. They are then turned off for the season on New Year’s Day. Do join us for the Candle Light Event on Opening Night beginning at 5:30 pm. Enjoy a complimentary 10 – 15 minute horse-drawn trolley ride on Friday and Saturday nights 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm ‎throughout December. Hot drinks and water are available Friday and Saturday nights 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm throughout

Opening Night

Be on hand for Opening Night – Saturday December 1, 2018 at 5:30 pm and join in the FREE community candlelight event. At 6:00 pm ‎be amazed at the massive fireworks display in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, filling the winter sky with a shower of explosions and a rainbow of colour. About Wonders of Winter

In 1994, Bill Weiler, a creative citizen of Waterloo asked for a loan from the City of Waterloo to install the first underground electrical service in Waterloo Park to power the first 5000 lights in imaginative displays. The loan has since been repaid and now a number of local service clubs and retired electrical workers have taken on the volunteer task of getting sponsors, designing displays, repairing old displays, building and maintaining the underground services, turning the lights on and off every night and generally
