About Wonders of Winter
In 1993, Bill Weiler, a creative citizen of Waterloo, asked for a loan from the City of Waterloo to install an underground electrical service in Waterloo Park to power the first 5000 lights in imaginative displays.
The loan has since been repaid and now a number of local service clubs and generous citizens have taken on the volunteer task of getting sponsors, designing displays, repairing old displays, building and maintaining the underground services, turning the lights on and off every night and generally maintaining all the light displays throughout the Festival of Lights.
Contact Us if you would like to help out. There are now overĀ 100 colourful displays with over 100,000 lights.
